R&D Cable Jointing provides HV testing and commissioning support built on decades of hands-on industry experience. Based in Kent and operating nationwide, we support projects across Essex, London, Kent, Hertfordshire, Surrey, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. Our role is to ensure cables, joints and terminations are correctly installed, accessible and ready for testing — and to remain available to support any remedial works identified during commissioning.
Testing and Commissioning Support
We provide pre-energisation inspection and commissioning support for HV cable installations, working alongside test engineers, DNO representatives and commissioning teams to ensure a clean handover.
- Pre-energisation inspection — cable, joint and termination readiness check before the test team arrives
- Sheath integrity testing — on HV cables following jointing works, to DNO engineering standards
- Pressure testing support for oil-filled and gas-filled equipment
- Defect rectification — immediate response to test failures identified during commissioning
- DNO/IDNO audit attendance and adoption support
- Energisation day support — present on site through first energisation
Supporting a Clean Handover
A testing and commissioning phase that runs without delays depends on the jointing work being done right first time. Our emphasis throughout the jointing phase is on preparation and quality that means the test team does not find problems. Where issues are identified, we respond quickly to rectify them.
- Jointing records and photographic documentation provided as standard
- Cable routing and identification confirmed before the test team arrives
- Screen and earth continuity checks completed
- Ready for sheath test immediately following jointing completion
